of Fine vegetables

Focus on own cultivation

For our fine vegetables we work with our own growers who combine years of experience and passion to harvest the most exceptional vegetables with great care. All our tomatoes (over 40 different varieties!) and a large share of our peppers and bell peppers come from our own cultivation. In addition, we collaborate with carefully selected regular growers from the Netherlands and Spain.

THE SHORTEST ROUTE FROM GREENHOUSE TO CUSTOMER

We package our vegetables on-site. Just before transport, we personally carry out an additional quality check. This ensures you receive vegetables that are freshly harvested—often that very same morning.

A FINE BALANCE BETWEEN QUALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY

Thanks to innovative and more sustainable cultivation methods, an increasing share of our produce comes from Dutch soil. In our greenhouses, we use sophisticated climate control systems that are adjusted daily by our experts. In Spain, we also work with growers who prioritize sustainability. This way, we continuously seek the best balance and guarantee quality and reliable delivery in the most sustainable way.

Farms in Africa

Many of our specialty vegetables, including legumes such as snow peas, haricots verts, and sugar snaps, are grown on our own farms in Zimbabwe, supported by a strong network of partner growers. This allows us to offer our assortment to customers all year round. From seed to shelf, we control the entire supply chain.

By cultivating all products on our own sites, we are able to deliver fresh and food-safe produce year-round. For most of the year, this comes from Africa, and during other periods, it is supplemented with supply from other parts of the world. These are always products from growers who receive a fair price for their efforts and whose operations are continuously monitored.

Own cultivation

We grow the products at our own farms in Africa, supplemented by a strong network of partner growers. This allows us to offer our customers optimum security in terms of food safety, quality and availability.

On our African plantations, we operate according to European standards, ensuring that farmers and workers receive fair prices and wages.

In Africa, we have cultivation areas with the best natural conditions for our fine vegetables. The high plateau there provides ideal climatic conditions for horticulture. It’s no surprise that many horticultural products come from Africa, ranging from legumes and herbs to other vegetables and flowers. A significant advantage is that we have complete control over the production locations. Therefore, we can grow according to our own – high – standards.

Our farms in Africa are located in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zambia and Rwanda.

Outgrowers

In addition to our own locations, we work with outgrowers: growers who are also specialized in legumes or herbs but have their own businesses. These outgrowers can be further divided into individual and group growers. Individual growers handle cooling and selection themselves, while group growers share a common location for these processes.

Whether they are “own” growers or outgrowers, both are assured of professional guidance. They are continuously trained according to European quality standards. There is constant quality control. As a result, we are able to grow products under African conditions that meet all requirements.

Other continents

For part of the year we supplement our range with products from elsewhere. We also have partners for our fine vegetables in South America, Central America, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt and the Netherlands. All growers who have a passion for their product and who have mastered the cultivation, so that the quality is comparable at every time of the year.
